Good advice! So often our lives become distracted with the present, which makes absolutely no sense since we serve an omnipresent God! He doesn't settle! Jesus didn't settle (Matt.8:20)! Setting our minds on heaven and God (Col 3:2) transforms us, ignites us to do God's will, to be effective rather than the ineffective state C.S. Lewis wrote about. I do believe there are present moments that require our best attention (ie. birthdays, births, coffee with a friend, etc.); they are rewarding. But they don't last, they are fleeting. Considering what we have to gain after death seems far more rewarding and IS everlasting. Good stuff, brother!
P.S. I think the entire 3rd chapter of Philippians works here, too. :)

My Story

  • I'm Rob Wegner. My official title is Pastor of Life Mission at Granger Community Church. My role is to help people get out of their seat and get into God's story, especially outside the four walls of the church building. I spend my time teaching, building teams and creating opportunties to mobilize people so that "up there" comes "down here." I love forging partnerships in our community and around the world to get that done. We're dreaming huge dreams about slaying the giants of our time - things like spiritual lostness, poverty, sickness, injustice, illiteracy...you get the idea. I get to do what I'm passionate about.
