I made a new friend yesterday, Regi Campbell from Next Generation Mentoring.
He told me a story I have to share with you. This is Regi's story.
A year ago I was reading a book called, Lord Save Us From Your Followers. In that book, the author tells the story of Tony Hall, US Congressman, who was one of the first people on the ground in Ethiopia from the West during the Great Famine of the 80's. The first day he was there, he was confronted with women begging him to take their babies so they wouldn't starve. He heard the story of an entire village of people, 1000 people, who heard there was food in another town and began walking. They walked 10 kilometers, the group of travelers grew. With each kilometer they walked, the group of travelers grew larger. By the time they arrived at the town, there were fifty thousand people and the original group had walked 100 kilometers.
No food was to found in that town. So, fifty thousand people, groaned, laid down on the ground, and most of them died.
When I read that, I thought of the perfectly restored 1964 GTO I had sitting my garage. I asked myself this question, "How am I going to explain that to Jesus on Judgement Day in light of what I just read? I decided I couldn't. So, my wife and I are now on a new mission. We're going to spend the next 20 years figuring how we can bounce our last check, investing it all in Kingdom initiatives that will change the world and impact eternity.
I hope his life story messes with you the way it's messing with me.

We need a mentoring program like that at our church. If we have one I haven't heard about it. That would be great! I would be the first in line to sign up. A mentor would be awesome, and a bunch of them leading our men would be even awesomer! (awesomer? Haha, you know what I mean!)
